While attending Rider University, one of the options to get credits is to get an internship in something that has to do with your major. I was lucky enough to get an internship at 94.5 WPST, a local radio station by our school. This radio station specializes in hit music and entertainment. Although it was a not s ports internship it gave me the experience in working within the media world. I had the great opportunity of actually being a guest DJ on the PST Totally Interactive Night Show two days a week from 7pm-Midnight. Since this was for a class, although it was fun, it did involve a lot of learning and a big research paper at the end of the course (which I got an A on!).
Overall my experience at PST taught me a lot and made me see that I wanted to follow my path in working within the media, however not in radio. Doing this internship was a great way of showing me something I DIDN’T want to do and that I would rather pursue a career in television. Although it was fun, it was not something I could see myself doing everyday. Internships are a great way to broaden a persons horizons and I am glad I had the experience of doing this while attending Rider.
