My Sports Blog and Sports Radio Show!

One thing that has really come in handy for me when going into a job interview or meeting with professionals in the sports media industry is the experience I have gained and allowed myself to make time for.

In my Sports Public Relations class we had to do a project with our group that would allow us to have something meaningful for our field of study in which we could show professionals when meeting them. My group was all into the NFL so we decided to make a sports blog and our main focus was going to be on something catchy and unique. We decided to write a sports blog on superstitions in the NFL and we called it "Two Different Socks and Unwashed Jocks." It became a big success and to branch out our blog we opened up a fan page via facebook which is a great source for networking. Through this we acquired over 300 followers for our sports blog.
Thanks to my sports blog, I was contacted by some students on Rider Campus who had scene it about being apart of a sports radio show that they run twice a week. I accepted and this semester I have done almost all of the radio shows with them! It is definitely a step in the right direction as far as pursuing a career in sports media goes. Our radio show is called "Sports Authorities" and we basically just cover the high lights of the current sports happenings going on in the world. We run the radio show through the schools radio studio 107.7 The Bronc. This semester for spring 2010 we air the show on Mondays 6-7pm and Wednesdays 12-1pm!
